Lacrosse Hall of Fame welcomes new inductees
The Manitoba Lacrosse Hall of Fame and Museum is welcoming aboard some outstanding new inductees.
The group, which will be formally introduced at a press conference on Thursday at the Sport for Life Centre, includes three teams that competed for the Minto Cup, three volunteers, five athletes and two player/builders.
The three teams include:
- the 1951 Manitoba Junior All-Stars, who were Western Canadian Champions,
- the 1954 junior all-stars – Eastern Canadian champs - and
- the 1955 junior all-stars, also Western Canadian champions.
Those clubs all competed for the prestigious Minto Cup, awarded annually to the national junior champions.
The three men added to the builder category are Cliff Hamilton, Tom O’Brien and Alan Parker, while Clark Hicks, Ralph Lyndon, Keith McLennan, Bill Stearns and Merrill ‘Butch’ Wozniak are being added to the player category. Harry Nightingale and Sam Thompson are the player/builder inductees.
The official induction ceremonies will take place on Oct. 14.
