Magpantay, Stevenson athletes of the week

Josh Magpantay of the Garden City Fighting Gophers varsity boys’ basketball team and Parker Stevenson of the Rosenort Redhawks varsity boys’ basketball team have been selected as the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association’s athletes of the week.

Magpantay, a 5-foot-9 guard named the Home Run Sports urban athlete of the week, led his team to the 2012 Milk AAAA Provincial Basketball Championship title and was named the championship tournament’s MVP.

Stevenson, a 6-foot-3 forward, was named the Tri-Star rural athlete of the week. He helped his team win the Bronze medal at the Provincial A Basketball Championship and and selected to the provincial all-star team.
