Rooney, Huculak named athletes of the week

Kenny Rooney of the College Jeanne Sauvé Olympiens boys’ volleyball team and Brooke Huculak of the Elton Sabres girls’ volleyball team are the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association athletes of the week.

Rooney, a 6-foot-5 middle, was named the Home Run Sports urban high school athlete of the week after he helped lead the Olympiens to the South Central Athletic Conference volleyball championship.

Brooke Huculak, a 5-foot-10 left-side player, was named the Tri-Star rural high school athlete of the week after she helped her team earn berths in the final of four tournaments this season and was named an all-star at the Vincent Massey Classic tournament.
