Wesmen's Sears, McNee named athletes of the month
Volleyball player Lauren Sears and basketball player Mark McNee have been chosen as the University of Winnipeg Wesmen-Lea Marc Printing Solutions Athletes of the Month for January 2012.
Sears, fifth-year middle and captain of the Wesmen women's volleyball team, had a record-breaking month in January as she broke the Canada West women’s volleyball single-season record for service aces. She had 38 heading into her teams the final two matches of the regular season this week.
McNee, a third-year forward with the Wesmen men's basketball team, led his team in scoring in five games played in January. The highlight in that stretch was on Jan. 20 in a 75-71 win over the Victoria Vikes when McNee scored 31 points and had 12 rebounds.
