The Winnipeg Rifles junior football team announced on Wednesday that Gord Cooke has retired from his position of general manager with the Prairie Football Conference team and that Doug Zubrecki has been named the new general manager.

"He (Gord) retired as the club’s GM after our tenth season," Todd Wilson, the Rifles’ president, told the Free Press. "He remains a very integral part of and strong supporter of the Rifles."

Cooke will assist the Rifles in an advisory position. Zubrecki joins the Rifles after being involved with the St. Vital Mustangs and Fort Garry Lions community football clubs.
