Football Bisons unveil 2012 regular-season schedule

THE University of Manitoba football team will open the 2012 Canada West season at the University of British Columbia Sept. 1 and host its home opener on Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. at the new Investors Group Field against the Saskatchewan Huskies.

"It always allows a chance to quickly bond when we start the season on the road and look forward to being in UBC during week one this season," Bisons head coach Brian Dobie said in a statement. "Of course, there is excitement as we get closer to play in the new stadium and host the first CIS football game there against our provincial rivals at Saskatchewan."

The Bisons will play three teams twice this season as Manitoba will meet UBC, Saskatchewan and the Calgary Dinos on the road and at home. Manitoba will host its annual Homecoming Game on Sept. 15 against the four-time and defending Canada West champion Dinos. It will host Alberta on Sept. 22 and UBC on Oct. 20.
