Bison swimmer excels
DILLON Perron of the Bisons men's swimming team earned two medals at the 2013 Canada West championships on Sunday at the Unversity of Victoria.
Perron earned silver in the 100m breaststroke and a bronze in the 200m breaststroke. The women's team was led by Kimberly Moors, who placed fourth in the women's 50m butterfly.
Manitoba on a tear
THE University of Manitoba Bisons men's basketball team (12-5) is on a five-game winning streak after a weekend sweep on home court.
Led by Jonar Huertas' 34-point outburst, the Bisons defeated the Lethbridge Pronghorns 104-94 on Saturday night after a 88-76 win Friday.
The Bison women are on a 13-game losing skid after a pair of losses to Lethbridge -- 60-48 Friday and 63-53 Saturday.
WINNIPEG native and Calgary Dinos guard Jarred Ogunbemi-Jackson put on a great show for the Duckworth Centre crowd as a member of the opposition. The Garden City grad scored 43 points and had 20 rebounds in the 9-7 Dinos' sweep of the Winnipeg Wesmen hoops team (11-6), with wins of 93-86 (OT) on Thursday and 79-71 on Friday.
The Wesmen women also lost both games against the No. 10-ranked Dinos and are on a six-game losing slide.
Wesmen shock Pandas
AT Edmonton, the unranked Wesmen women's volleyball team pulled off an upset over the No. 3-ranked Alberta Pandas on Saturday with a 3-1 win (19-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-19). The 7-11 Wesmen lost in straight sets on Friday to the 13-5 Pandas, 25-19, 25-12, 25-20.
The No. 9-ranked Wesmen men's volleyball team was beaten in straight sets both nights by the No.1-ranked Alberta Golden Bears.
Hockey Herd earns split
THE Manitoba Bisons women hockey team (10-10-4) earned a home-ice split against the 7-14-3 Lethbridge Pronghorns at the Max Bell Arena over the weekend. After Lethbridge scored the winner on the power play in a 3-2 overtime win on Friday night, the Bisons rebounded with a 5-2 win on Saturday.

AT Lethbridge, the No. 9-ranked Bison men (15-5-4) earned a two-game sweep of the Pronghorns (1-21-2). The Bisons won 5-1 Saturday and 6-3 on Friday.
