Niverville’s David Richert has chosen to appear in the kart races at Gimli Motorsport Park this weekend, prior to returning to Italy to rejoin the world famous circuit of Imola in his Silver Jeans sponsored Formula Renault.

Richert cut his teeth in the autosport business putting in several years of training in the quick world of kart racing.

He will drive a 125 CC Rotax powered kart, provided to him by the GBR Manitoba Karting Team, a GBR Manitoba is a division of Burkett Racing Enterprises of Winnipeg.

"I’m really looking forward to getting back into a Rotax as it’s one of the quickest racing machines you can drive anywhere in the world" Richert said in a prepared release, "I spent many years racing karts in Gimli so to be able to go back and have fun with old friends will be a great time."

Testing takes place on Saturday with qualifying, and the main feature races, on Sunday.

Gates open at Gimli Motorsport Park on Saturday at noon, and noon on Sunday.
