Blue Jays alumni players providing skills tips to youths at Shaw Park
A group of about 100 local baseball players aged 10-16 are fielding ground balls and receiving skills tips this morning from Toronto Blue Jays alumni players.
Jesse Barfield, Denis Boucher, Homer Bush, Lloyd Moseby and Duane Ward are on the field with them at at Shaw Park.
The Blue Jays alumni are instructing the youth players in the Winnipeg leg of the 2012 Blue Jays Honda Super Camp, one of 14 being held across Canada in conjuction with Baseball Canada and Little League Canada.
All participants received a hat, T-shiort, instructional manual, photo card and a leather pro model Roberto Alomar Series baseball glove.
At each camp, the Blue Jays organization will be issuing a grant and a donation of equipment to the local Boys & Girls Club of Canada to help start a baseball skills development program.
