Blue Jays place reliever Santos on 15-day disable list with elbow strain

TORONTO - The Toronto Blue Jays put reliever Sergio Santos on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a right elbow strain.

Santos, 30, has appeared in 14 games this season, posting an 0-2 record with five saves and a 9.00 earned-run average.

Toronto also optioned catcher Eric Kratz to triple-A Buffalo while recalling infielder Jonathan Diaz and right-hander Chad Jenkins.

Kratz, 33, hit .231 in 11 games with Toronto this season. He had two homers and six runs-batted in.

Diaz, 29, makes his second appearance in Toronto. He appeared in 22 games before being optioned April 30 after hitting .176 with one double and one stolen base.

Jenkins, 26, returns for a third time this season. He has appeared in three games, all in relief, allowing three runs over three innings while striking out two.
