Braves manager Gonzalez still perplexed by replay call vs Mets, appears to have escaped fine

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez appears to have escaped a fine from Major League Baseball after saying a replay decision was one of the "worst" calls he'd ever seen.

Gonzalez hadn't heard from MLB before Tuesday night's game against the New York Mets.

Gonzalez was ejected Monday night in the ninth inning for arguing after a call was reversed on replay. A Mets runner was ruled safe at second on a bunt play when a review showed Atlanta shortstop Andrelton Simmons came off the base too early.

The so-called "neighbourhood play" is not subject to a replay challenge. MLB put out a postgame statement saying that umpires can use a number of factors to determine what makes up a "neighbourhood" play. Crew chief Mike Everitt said the umpires reviewed the play because they felt the throw took Simmons off the bag.

The Mets won 4-3 in the 11th.
