Free agent minor league pitcher Mark Hamburger suspended 50 games for 2nd positive drug test
NEW YORK, N.Y. - Free agent right-hander Mark Hamburger has been suspended 50 games under baseball's minor league drug program for a second positive test for a drug of abuse.
Hamburger was penalized Monday by the commissioner's office. The penalty will start when he signs with a big league organization.
The 26-year-old Hamburger made his big league debut in 2011 for the Texas Rangers. He appeared in five games and was 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in eight innings. Last year, he pitched for Houston's Triple-A team in Oklahoma City.
There have been seven suspensions this year under the minor league program.
