Fish hooks: GOLDEYES 5 JOLIET 3
The Winnipeg Goldeyes got a gem from their starter and a grand slam from their third baseman en route to a 5-3 victory over the Joliet JackHammers before a crowd of 5,422 at Canwest Park Monday night.
Fish starter Bill Pulsipher scattered seven hits and gave up three runs over eightplus innings, striking out eight, walking one and throwing an economical 105 pitches. Pulsipher improves to 4-1 with the victory and will almost certainly be the Goldeyes Game 1 starter when the Northern League playoffs begin next week.
Fish third baseman Vince Harrison was the offensive star of the game. With the Goldeyes trailing 1-0, Harrison walked to the plate in the fourth inning with the bases loaded and belted a home run over the left-centre field fence. Four RBI, a run scored and a double to go with that grand slam.
The Fish and Jackhammers play the second of a three-game series at Canwest Park tonight at 7 p.m.
