The morning after hitting a home run at Shaw Park, Winnipeg Goldeyes outfielder Ray Sadler is on his way back to Kansas City.
The Goldeyes announced Thursday they’d dealt the veteran back to the T-Bones, the same team they picked him up from one year ago. The reason: veteran infielder Jake Blackwood is returning from an ankle injury, so to keep within American Association roster rules, another veteran had to go.
Sadler, 33, swung for a .277 average with 21 home runs and 81 RBI in 109 games with the Goldeyes over parts of these two seasons. Blackwood, 28, is hitting .263 this year with two home runs and 21 RBI in the 33 games he’s played since joining the Fish this year.
The Goldeyes wrap up their series against the visiting Sioux City Explorers tonight at 7 p.m. They dropped the first two games of the series to the visitors, and will now look to salvage a win. Then they’ll gear up to host the Gary SouthShore RailCats for three games, starting on Friday night.
