The Winnipeg Goldeyes are continuing to bolster their roster in advance of the season, adding three new position players today.
Infielders Casey Haerther and Garrett Rau and outfielder Nick Liles will join the Fish for the 2013 season, the club announced.
Haerther, 25, was a fifth-round pick of the Los Angeles Angels in 2009, and is coming off of four pro seasons in the Angels system. Last year, the California native hit .271 with 10 home runs and had 56 RBI in 124 games with the Texas League's Double-A Arkansas.
Goldeyes manager Rick Forney said the club had high expectations for Haerther, a "big bat, middle-of-the-lineup type of hitter," and noted that he will play a lot at first and third base.
Liles also played four seasons in affiliated baseball, after being picked in the seventh round of the 2009 draft by the San Francisco Giants. He batted .259 with 20 RBI in 90 games for the Eastern League's Richmond last season.
Rau, 24, is a former pitcher in the Boston Red Sox organization, but switched to position play with the Amarillo Sox a year ago. He played 89 games with Amarillo last year, filling in at every infield position except for catcher.
