Goldeyes batter Saltdogs

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Winnipeg Goldeyes found their missing bats Wednesday, coming alive to drop the host Saltdogs 10-4 in American Association action.

By doing so, the Fish won the final game of the three-game series and took it 2-1.

The Goldeyes improved to 34-23 and more importantly kept pace with first-place Fargo in the race for top spot in the North Division.

The Goldeyes made a statement in the eighth inning with a six-run blast. Already leading, 4-0, the Goldeyes pushed across some security runs just to be on the safe side. The final three runs in the eighth came via a three-run home run from Goldeyes DH Kyle Day. Day went 2-for-4 with a run and four RBI. Starting Winnipeg pitcher Todd Privett had a great game as he picked up the win, his third of the season, throwing 6 1/3 shutout innings with three strikeouts. Privett's ERA dropped below three to 2.95 with the victory. After the game, the Goldeyes hopped on the bus and headed for Sioux Falls where they will play a four-game series beginnng Thursday.
