Past and present stars with the Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball team will help make the team’s 2009 Winnipeg Goldeyes/Princess Auto Holiday Camp for youth a holiday event to remember.
The 16th edition of the camp for boys and girls aged seven to 12 will be held on Dec. 19 at 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the University of Winnipeg’s Duckworth Centre.
Instructors will include all-star shortstop Wes Long from the 2009 team as well as former pitcher Donnie Smith, whose number was retired last summer, along with other former players in catcher Troy Fortin and outfielder Charles Peterson and Goldeyes manager Rick Forney. Baseball Manitoba will also supply local clinicians to help instruct the youth athletes.
For the $65 registration fee, the camp includes about four hours of instruction, a voucher for a free ticket to a Goldeyes game during the 2010 season, a camp T-shirt, lunch and special giveaways.
In a release, the Goldeyes announced spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To register or for more information please go to the team website at www.goldeyes.com, call the Goldeyes office at 982-2273 or register in person at Canwest Park.
