Goldeyes defeat Grand Prairie Airhogs 5-2
The Goldeyes cruised to a 5-2 win over the Grand Prairie Airhogs for the series sweep this morning at Shaw Park.
The three-game sweep is the Goldeyes first at home this season.
The bottom half of the batting order for the Fish was outstanding all series-long.
It all started with sixth batter Donnie Webb in the second inning as he hit a blooper into right field. He would later steal second base and get brought home by Casey Haerther off a line-drive single. Haerther would score to make it 2-0 after two.
The two would team up again in the sixth. With Webb standing on second, Haerther slapped an RBI double and would later score to make it 4-0. Haerther went four for four, scoring three times.
The first baseman had an exceptional series, racking up 3 homeruns and nine RBI’s.
On the Mound
Matthew Jackson started things off for the Fish. Jackson tossed five shutout innings, giving up only two hits and struck out two. The Airhogs battled in the eighth and ninth, picking up two runs off relievers.
Now sitting on top of the North Division, the Fish will meet up with former leaders the St Paul Saints tonight at 7 p.m.
