The Winnipeg Goldeyes got back in the win column Tuesday night, drilling the Laredo Lemurs 7-1 to even their three-game series at 1-1. The rubber match goes Wednesday at 10 a.m.
For the fifth time in six games to start the season, the Fish (4-2) opened the scoring. Ray Sadler's two-run home run in the first inning also scored Jake Blackwood, and was followed by a solo shot from Reggie Abercrombie that gave the Goldeyes a 3-0 lead to start the game. The Goldeyes scored two more runs in the third and singles in the seventh and eighth innings. The Lemurs scored their lone run in the fifth inning.
Kyle Anderson got the win in his first start for the Goldeyes, giving up seven hits and one run in five and a third innings. Relievers Taylor Sweitt, Chris Kissock and Brendan Lafferty allowed four hits between them.
The Goldeyes defence produced three double-plays and had no errors.
Following the conclusion of their series against the Lemurs, the Goldeyes will travel to Lincoln, Neb., for a three-game series against the Saltdogs.
