Goldeyes extend Forney's contract to 2015

The Winnipeg Goldeyes have announced a contract extension for manager Rick Forney, which will keep him with the baseball club through the 2015 season.

Forney, 41, led the Goldeyes to the 2012 American Association championship title in his seventh season as manager. He was the league's manager of the year in 2011.

"Rick continues to build championship-calibre teams and is one of the best field managers in independent baseball," said Winnipeg Goldeyes owner and president Sam Katz in a media release. "We are pleased that he will remain with the organization for at least the next three seasons."

Forney has a 371-311 wins-losses record in the 682 regular season games he has managed with the Goldeyes.
