The Winnipeg Goldeyes allowed 11 hits and six walks in an 8-5 loss to the St. Paul Saints Tuesday night.
The Fish started the scoring in the second when Nick Liles singled to score Leonard Davis from third base. The Saints responded in the third inning, with Craig Brazell clubbing a grand slam off Winnipeg starter Aaron Correa to put the home side up 4-1.
Winnipeg tied it in the fifth inning with two-out RBI base hits from Fehlandt Lentini and Luis Alen, but St. Paul quickly regained the lead for good in their half of the fifth. The Saints loaded the bases against Goldeyes reliever Kaohi Downing and scored three runs.
The rubber match of the three-game series is Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Midway Stadium in St. Paul. Justin Garcia gets the nod for Winnipeg against Saints right-hander and former Major Leaguer Mark Hamburger
