Goldeyes garner good season at the gate this year

The Winnipeg Goldeyes had another successful season at the gate to go along with their American Association championship.

Fans of the Fish packed Shaw Park at a league-leading rate with an average attendance of 5,705. The Goldeyes also finished second overall in average attendance among 49 independent professional baseball teams. Only the expansion Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League in their brand new ballpark drew more fans per game than the Goldeyes.

"Once again we continue to be supported by the best fans in minor league baseball," Goldeyes GM Andrew Collier said in a statement released by the team. "The American Association has 12 other strong franchises. To lead the league in attendance again is an accomplishment everyone in Winnipeg can celebrate."
