The Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball team is set to host its home opener tonight at 7 at Shaw Park with over 7,100 tickets sold and will also kick off its television broadcast schedule.

The Goldeyes (6-3) will host the Amarillo Sox (6-4) at Shaw Park in the first game of a three-game set between the two American Association teams. The Goldeyes will send right-handed pitcher Ace Walker to the mound to start the game while lefty Chuck Lofgren will start for the Sox.

The Goldeyes and the Sox will meet again Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Thursday at 11 a.m.

Though it is a wet and blustery day so far, brighter skies are ahead for later today and the game is still expected to be played as planned.

The Goldeyes announced today that Shaw TV will broadcast 20 home games this season including tonight's game against Amarillo and the other two games in this series. The broadcasts will be aired on Shaw TV in Manitoba and Shaw Direct across Canada

"Shaw TV does a great job of producing a big league broadcast of our games," Goldeyes general manager Andrew Collier said in a statement. "We are proud to partner with them and offer our fans a great way to follow the team when they are not at Shaw Park."
