Winnipeg Goldeyes pitcher Nick Carr was placed on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of granting his release on Wednesday afternoon.
Carr, 25, had been on the American Association team's inactive list since June 11 due to a labrum tear in his shoulder. He was eligible to come off the inactive list last week but was not activated.
Working as the Goldeyes closer, Carr had four saves and a 5.06 ERA with a 1-0 record.
Goldeyes manager Rick Forney has 20 players on his team's active roster, including 11 pitchers and nine position players.
The Goldeyes will host Les Capitales de Québec of the Can-Am League on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Shaw Park in the second of their three-game set which is part of the interlocking schedule between the two leagues.
It is also part of the Christmas in July promotion in support of the Christmas Cheer Board. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or to make a cash donation. The first 1,500 fans will receive a special Goldie Snow Globe.
Winnipeg’s Ace Walker (5-2, 2.89) and Quebec’s John Mariotti (8-1, 4.56) expected to take the mound. The final game in the three-game series is Thursday at noon.
Quebec beat Winnipeg 6-2 on Tuesday in the first meeting between the two teams.
