It was a historic night in St. Paul Thursday as the Goldeyes set two franchise records and the Saints played their final game at Midway Stadium.
Before 9,455 fans, the Fish edged St. Paul 4-3 to improve to 61-35 on the season. It's the first time the franchise has surpassed 60 wins, and the Goldeyes' 33 road wins is also a team record.
The win was record-setting 61st on the season for the Fish, bettering the team's 2011 mark of 60. The win also broke the Goldeyes' record for road wins in a season, with 33.
The game featured some great baseball, fun in-game contests, an on-field post-game party and an appearance by Saints' part-owner Bill Murray, who greeted fans as they entered the park one last time.
Nick Hernandez gave up two earned runs in 6-2/3 innings and struck out four to earn the win, his league leading 12th of the season.
Josh Mazzola clubbed a three-run dinger in the seventh, his second multi-run home run on two games.
The Goldeyes begin a four-game homestand against the Gary South-Shore RailCats 7 p.m. Friday at Shaw Park.
