Goldeyes start building for next season
The 2012 American Association champion Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball team has taken the first step to building next season's team.
Manager Rick Forney announced today that he has picked up the option on 15 players for the 2013 season. The players must still be signed to an American Association contract for next season or they may play out their option year.
The players include:
Luis Alen, catcher
Chris Allen, pitcher
Zach Baldwin, pitcher
Brian Beuning, pitcher
Mike Coles, outfielder
Yurendell de Caster, infielder
Kaohi Downing, pitcher
Price Kendall, infielder
Josh Mazzola, infielder/outfielder
Todd Privett, pitcher
Amos Ramon, infielder
Chris Roberson, outfielder
Matt Rusch, pitcher
Chris Salamida, pitcher
Ace Walker, pitcher
The Goldeyes placed three players on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of granting their release including infielders Barbaro Canizares and Jose Duran and pitcher Denver Wynn.
