Goldeyes suffer another loss to Jackals
With another loss against the Jackals in New Jersey Wednesday, the Goldeyes (18-2) saw their losing streak extend to a season-high three games.
After managing just three base hits in a 4-1 loss to the Jackals on Tuesday to start a 10-game road trip against interleague opponents, the Fish managed just five hits Wednesday in a 3-2 setback at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, N.J.
The Jackals' Joe Dunigan hit solo home runs off Goldeyes starting pitcher Nick Hernandez in the first and sixth innings, then singled in the winning run in an extra inning.
Donnie Webb cracked a two-run homer in the fourth inning to give the Goldeyes a 2-1 lead.
The home runs ruined an otherwise solid start from Hernandez, who had nine strikeouts and allowed just one walk over seven innings.
The teams close out their three-game series on Thursday with a 6 p.m. start time. The Goldeyes will then travel to Quebec for series against two other Can-Am League oppenents, the Quebec Capitales and Trois-Rivieres Aigles.
