The American Association is bringing back its All-Star game and going directly to the one place it can count on for a home run.
The Winnipeg Goldeyes will host the league’s first all-star game since 2010 this summer on July 29 at Shaw Park.
The two-day event include a fan fest and skills competition on July 28 and conlcude wth the game the next night.
"We are thrilled to be able to host our fellow American Association teams for this great event," Goldeyes general manager Andrew Collier said. "Our staff is working hard to ensure it will be a marquee event in downtown Winnipeg this summer for our fans to enjoy."
The Goldeyes previously hosted all-star games in the Northern League in 2001 and 2008.
The managers from last year’s final, Greg Tagert, manager of the 2013 champion Gary SouthShore RailCats and Kevin Hooper of the runner-up Wichita Wingnuts, will lead the teams.
The format of the game will be released at a future date.
Goldeyes season ticket holders will receive a ticket to the fan fest, skills competition and all-star game as part of their 2014 ticket package.
