Goldeyes to take on Saints, despite rain
Through the admirable talents of the Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball team's grounds crew, the game between the Goldeyes and the St. Paul Saints is still expected to be played this afternoon at Shaw Park despite this morning's deluge of rain.
The Goldeyes (32-21) and the Saints (24-28) will have a delayed start from the original 1:30 p.m. time but the field has been prepared and ready to go as the rain has let up over Shaw Park.
"We're planning a 2:05 p.m. start time, provided the weather doesn't drastically change," said Regan Katz, the Goldeyes' assistant general manager.
The Goldeyes, who saw their six-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday night with a 4-3 loss to the Saints, will end their 12-game home stand this afternoon.
Winnipeg will depart after the game for Lincoln, Neb. for a three-game set with the Saltdogs beginning on Monday followed by four games in Sioux Falls against the Pheasants.
