Tyler Kuhn is off to a torrid start with the Winnipeg Goldeyes and was honoured for his efforts on Monday, being named the American Association team’s player of the month.
The 27-year-old shortstop, in his first season with the Fish, led the club with a .389 batting average in May. He was also tied for the league lead in hits with 28 and had a .429 on-base percentage.
In the field, Kuhn had a .955 fielding percentage playing all 16 games at shortstop and helped turn nine double plays.
The Goldeyes (10-7) begin a seven-game road trip with the first of four games against the Sioux Falls Canaries tonight in South Dakota.
