  • Print

The Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball team's first baseman/rightfielder Josh Mazzola has been named the Pointstreak batter of the week in the American Association for the week ending July 15.

Mazzola, 26, hit .458 last week in six games with three home runs and eight RBI. He hit home runs in three consecutive days from July 9-12.

Mazzola extended his hitting streak to a team-leading 12 games by getting a hit in Sunday's 6-3 loss to the St. Paul Saints.

This season, Mazzola is hitting .302 with eight home runs and 31 RBI.

The Goldeyes, second in the North division, open a three-game set in Lincoln, Neb. tonight against the Saltdogs.
