Rain delays Goldeyes game until next month
Sunday's rain forced the Winnipeg Goldeyes to postpone their scheduled tilt against the Lincoln Saltdogs until next month.
The Fish were slated to close out the four-game home series at Shaw Park Sunday afternoon, but rain forced a delay. The team then announced the game would be postponed.
The Goldeyes will make up the match on July 30, when they will play a double-header against Lincoln starting at 6 p.m. Both of those games will last seven innings.
Tickets for Sunday's game can be exchanged for any other regular-season game at the Shaw Park box office.
The delay came after the Goldeyes announced a pair of moves, including the addition of a new pitcher to bolster the roster: rookie southpaw Ryan Sasaki, who joined the team Sunday after the Fish claimed him from the Laredo Lemurs. The 22-year-old went 2-2 with a 4.81 ERA in six starts with Laredo this season. He was a 2009 13th-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Phillies.
At the same time, the Goldeyes placed outfielder Ryan Scoma on the disabled list. Scoma, a talented left-side batter who had 17 RBI in 21 games with the Goldeyes this year, has been out with an injury since June 12.
