Goldeye Roberson named to all-star team

The American Association has announced its 2012 all-star team, as voted on by the league's 13 field managers and media representatives.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes, who take a magic number of one to clinch the wild card into tonight's game at 6 p.m. against the North division champion Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Shaw Park, had outfielder Chris Roberson named to the all-star team.

Roberson has hit .327 with 11 home runs for the playoff-contending Goldeyes. He has the best average on Winnipeg of players with 75 or more at-bats.

The other two all-star outfielders chosen were Nic Jackson of Fargo-Moorhead and Adam Buschini of Amarillo.

Other all-stars included: catcher Chris McMurray of Grand Prairie/Lincoln, first base Brian Myrow of Grand Prairie, second base Jake Kahaulelio of Wichita, third base Cesar Nicolas of Sioux Falls, shortstop Zach Penprase of Fargo-Moorhead and designated hitter Ryan Delgado of Fargo-Moorhead.

Named pitcher of the Year was Josh Lowey of Wichita. Lowey has an American Association-best 15 wins and he also has a 3.46 ERA for Wichita. The relief pitcher of the year is Tom Boleska of Fargo-Moorhead and the defensive player of the year is Ryan Khoury of Wichita.
