Fish get Ott back after stellar 2011 campaign
LOUIS OTT, who played catcher and in the infield for the Winnipeg Goldeyes last season, has been signed by the Goldeyes for the 2012 American Association baseball season.
Ott, 26, had been acquired by Winnipeg early last season from the Gary SouthShore RailCats. With Winnipeg, he hit a career-high .325 in 94 games with five home runs, 38 RBI and had a career-high 12 stolen bases. Ott saw action in 15 games as the Goldeyes' catcher.
"We are thrilled to have Lou Ott back this year," said Goldeyes manager Rick Forney in a release. "He's a very versatile player. Last year we got him at a desperate time of need when Amos Ramon went down with a torn ACL and Lou came in a did a great job for us at third base. This year the plan is going to be for him to fill a super utility role. He'll play a little third base and a second base and he'll get to catch a few times a week."
