A key hurler is set to come back to the Winnipeg Goldeyes bullpen, as the Fish locked down Canadian pitcher Chris Kissock for the 2014 season.

Kissock, 28, was a killer on the mound last season, whipping in 56 strikeouts against nine walks in just over 53 innings of work across 50 games. It was a a career-best strikeout-to-walk ratio for him, after six seasons bouncing around the Philadelphia Phillies organiziation. The right-handed reliever, together with Brendan Lafferty, formed one of the most formidable relief duos in the American Association with 103 appearances between them.

The Fish also signed Lafferty for 2014 earlier in the off-season.

"(KIssock) had a fantastic season last year in his American Association debut," Goldeyes manager Rick Forney said in a release. "He pounded the bottom of the strike zone, and he wants to pitch every day. With him and Brendan Lafferty returning, we're hoping our seventh- and eighth-inning situation will be as good this year as it was last year."
