The Winnipeg Goldeyes racked up 13 hits in an 8-1 win over the Grand Prairie AirHogs on Wednesday at Shaw Park. The win clinched their first home series of the season.
Casey Haerther picked up where he left off in the first game. The first baseman saw the ball all night, going three-for-four with five RBI.
After back-to-back singles from Donnie Webb and Josh Mazzola in the second inning and one run already on the board for the Fish, Haerther launched a three-run home run over the left field wall to put them up 4-0.
But he wasn't done there. With the score 5-0, the first baseman smacked a solo home run over right field in the sixth. That gives Haerther three dingers and seven RBI in two games against the AirHogs.
ON THE MOUND
Nick Hernandez tossed his best game as a Goldeye. The starting pitcher hurled 6.2 innings, giving up four hits and striking out four. Hernandez held the AirHogs to nothing before getting into trouble in the seventh, giving up one run.
The Goldeyes will go for the series sweep against the AirHogs this morning at 11 a.m.
