A vicious-looking sharp-toothed fish with bulging biceps will put a little more bite into the 2011 Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball season.
The Goldeyes, who will play in the American Association this season, unveiled on Monday a secondary logo that will be used on the team's red jersey worn for afternoon home games.
The Goldeyes will also use the secondary logo in its 2011 advertising campaign and on team apparel sold in The Dugout Souvenir Store inside Shaw Park in time for the opening of the 2011 season.
"This logo is a great addition to the proud 'W' logo the Goldeyes have enjoyed for the past 17 seasons," Andrew Collier, Goldeyes general manager, said in a release.
"The new logo appeals to all of our fans, but especially our younger fans. It allows us to do some new and creative things with our merchandise and advertising."
The logo was created by Zephyr Hats of Loveland, Colo. Goldeyes players wear Zephyr Hats.
The Goldeyes begin their inaugural season in the American Association May 12 against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Shaw Park.
