Goldeyes stretch win streak to six

THE Winnipeg Goldeyes are on a season-high six-game winning streak after defeating the Lincoln Saltdogs 10-6 Tuesday at Shaw Park before a crowd of 5,512.

The Goldeyes (18-6) and the Saltdogs (11-15) will meet again today at 11 a.m. when the Goldeyes will go for the sweep. Ace Walker (3-0, 3.00), who set the Goldeyes' all-time strikeout record (315) last Friday in Fargo, will start for Winnipeg. Lincoln will go with righty Ryan Sheldon (2-1, 3.07).

The Goldeyes are at the top of the North Division with a 41/2-game lead over the St. Paul Saints.

Rookie left-hander Rich Hawkins got the win for the Goldeyes, his second in two starts. Jino Gonzales (0-3) took the loss for Lincoln,

The Goldeyes had a 10-0 lead after six innings but when Hawkins left, the Saltdogs scored a pair in the seventh, eighth and ninth frames.
