New Fish outfielder Crowell has shown he can hit

OUTFIELDER Kurt Crowell, who missed most of last season with a hand injury, has been signed by the Winnipeg Goldeyes.

Crowell was with the Schaumburg Flyers in 2008 when he was hit by a pitch July 16 by Joliet JackHammers' Aaron Trolia. Crowell missed the rest of the season. He was hitting .333 with three home runs and 22 RBI. In other team news, the Goldeyes released infielder Chad Ehrnsberger, a mid-season addition last year who batted .312 in 42 games for Winnipeg, but would have been classified as a veteran this season. Training camp opens May 1 at Canwest Park.
