Indians OF Michael Bourn says he could be back Thursday against Twins

  • Print

CLEVELAND - Indians centre fielder and leadoff hitter Michael Bourn, who is out for the fourth straight game because of a tight left hamstring, said he could return to the lineup Thursday.

Bourn ran the bases and took batting practice before Cleveland played the Twins on Wednesday. He said his leg has improved since he left Saturday's game after beating out a bunt.

Indians manager Terry Francona said the team will be cautious with Bourn when he returns. Cleveland opens a trip to Tampa Bay and Toronto on Friday with all six games being played on artificial turf, making it unlikely that Bourn will be in the lineup every day.

Bourn had surgery on the hamstring in October, but strained it in spring training and began the season on the disabled list. He's batting .266 with four RBIs, two stolen bases and has been caught stealing three times in 15 games.
