Jay cleared to play
CHICAGO -- An MRI exam on St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jon Jay's right shoulder has revealed no structural damage and there are no plans to put him on the disabled list.
Jay was injured when he crashed into the centre-field wall at Busch Stadium on Thursday, trying to track down Drew Stubbs' seventh-inning home run in a 6-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
The team sent him back to St. Louis to get checked out after he experienced discomfort during batting practice on Sunday.
Jay is hitting .349 with two homers and four RBI on the year.
Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said Jay may be available to pinch-run during the team's three-game series against the Chicago Cubs, which started Monday night.
