Asagwara gets shot at national team

UZO ASAGWARA of Winnipeg has been named to the Canada Basketball 2009 senior women's national basketball team invitation-only tryout and training roster. The tryout opened Wednesday and concludes Friday in Toronto.

Asagwara, a 5-foot-7 guard who starred for five seasons with the University of Winnipeg Wesmen women's basketball team, is one of 16 players who will subsequently participate in an intense training camp May 30-June 5.

The final roster will compete in the FIBA Americas Championships for Women Sept. 23-27 in Cuiaba, Brazil.
