Timberwolves F Kevin Love to take the 'Polar Bear Plunge' and jump into frozen lake

MINNEAPOLIS - Kevin Love is going to be taking a different approach to icing that healing right hand of his.

The Minnesota Timberwolves forward is planning to participate in the Polar Bear Plunge on Saturday. He's going to be jumping into frigid Riley Lake in Eden Prairie as part of Minnesota Law Enforcement's effort to raise money for Special Olympics.

Love is the first Timberwolves player to take the plunge. And he's challenging Wolves fans to join him.

Love says that he will donate $5 for every fan who joins him at Riley Lake on Saturday, up to $5,000.

The plunge could be therapeutic for Love, who is still recovering from surgery to repair a hand that has been broken twice this season. He hopes to play in two to three weeks.
