HIV-positive former Saskatchewan Roughrider released from prison
PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. - A former Saskatchewan Roughrider who was convicted of knowingly exposing two women to HIV has been released from prison.
A corrections spokesman confirms that Trevis Smith left the penitentiary in Prince Albert, Sask. Smith was to be deported to his native Alabama after his release.
A spokeswoman with the Canada Border Services Agency, citing privacy laws, would not confirm the deportation.
Smith served two years of a six-year sentence he received after being convicted of aggravated sexual assault in 2007.
He was found to have had unprotected sex with a Regina woman and a woman from British Columbia without telling them he had HIV.
