WINNIPEG - Charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and uttering threats involving a former Winnipeg Blue Bomber have been dismissed.
The case against 37-year-old Colin Scrivener was dropped at the conclusion of a preliminary hearing held in Winnipeg on Thursday afternoon.
The other two co-accused will stand trial on the charges.
They are 43-year-old Russell Disbrowe and 36-year-old Marvin Flett.
Last year, a man was allegedly assaulted and stabbed in a motel room, then thrown out a third-floor window.
Scrivener was a defensive lineman who played eight seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Saskatchewan Roughriders.
