MONACO - Ben Mutai Kimwole of Kenya set a course record in winning the Monaco Marathon on Sunday.
Kimwole won in two hours 11 minutes one second, beating the previous mark by 25 seconds, which had been set by Kenneth Cheruiyot in 1999.
Another Kenyan, Jackson Rono, was second in 2:17:50, and Andrei Bryzgalov of Russia was third.
Belaynesh Bekele of Ethiopia won the women's race in 2:48:48, with Ekaterina Fateeva of Russia second in 2:51:29 and Elena Kozhevnikova of Russia was third.
