EDMONTON - The Edmonton Eskimos signed free agent quarterback Jared Zabransky, the cover player on EA Sports' "NCAA Football 08" video game, on Monday.
Zabransky, who began his career at Boise State as a backup to Winnipeg Blue Bombers QB Ryan Dinwiddie, guided the Broncos to 12-0 record in his senior year and capped off his college career by leading BSU past Oklahoma 43-42 in overtime at the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.
He left Boise State with 612 completions in 983 attempts for 8,256 yards and 58 touchdowns in 48 games (39 starts).
The next year he was on the video game cover.
Zabransky proceeded to sign with the Houston Texas as an undrafted free agent in 2007 and spent time on their practice squad. He later signed with Pittsburgh and was waived last July.
"Jared Zabransky is an accurate passer, very mobile and he has outstanding leadership abilities," Eskimos head coach Richie Hall said in a statement. "His skills are well suited to the CFL game."
