Fred Reid named CFL's offensive player of the month

WINNIPEG - Fred Reid’s dominating run through defences hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Canadian Football League.

Reid, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers star running back, was named the CFL’s Offensive Player of the Month for August this afternoon.

The Mississippi State product set a Bomber record on August 21st, rushing for 260 yards on 26 carries in Winnipeg’s 37-10 victory over the B.C. Lions. He leads the CFL in rushing yards with 795 and is also atop the combined-yardage list at 1,390.

Saskatchewan Roughrider defensive end Stevie Baggs was named the CFL’s top defensive player for August with Toronto kicker Justin Medlock grabbing top special teams honours and Montreal safety Mathieu Proulx honoured as the top Canadian.
