Goldeyes get big-league pitching know-how as Pulsipher returns to coach

Former Major League Baseball and Winnipeg Goldeyes pitcher Bill Pulsipher, 38, has been hired as the Goldeyes pitching coach.

Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced Wednesday that Pulsipher will join the Goldeyes for the 2012 American Association season.

Pulsipher started six games for the Goldeyes in 2009 with a 4-2 record.

"He’s a huge addition to our organization and to say I am thrilled is an understatement," Forney said in a statement. "He has a lot to offer to young pitchers in our organization. I know he’s really excited about coming and starting this chapter of his life. He’s moved on from playing and he’s looking forward to starting his career fresh as a pitching coach."

He ended his 18-year professional career last season with the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League. He had a 4.00 ERA in 18 starts with a 3-6 record. Drafted in 1991 by the New York Mets, Pulsipher pitched in 106 Major League games. He had 46 starts with a career record of 13-19 record and a 5.15 ERA.
