The Winnipeg Goldeyes (17-15) made somewhat of a surprise move Wednesday morning when the team released right-handed pitcher Barry Fowler.
Fowler, the 35-year-old rookie, made his professional debut with the El Paso Diablos, and signed with Winnipeg in February 2011.
Fowler pitched six innings in Tuesday night’s game and seemed to perform quite well, allowing 2 runs and finishing with an ERA of 3.0. His ERA on the season is 4.22 and Fowler has recorded six strikeouts in 21 innings of work.
Despite the decent numbers, the Fish have let Fowler swim free, and the team has not yet signed anyone in his replacement.
